From your Interim Priest:
Easter Greetings!
Easter Day was a lovely celebration of our Lord’s Resurrection. Once again the church was filled with flowers and lovely hangings - the black and wheat colored hangings of Lent are gone. Once again we can raise our Alleluias! Thank you to Irene, altar guild directress and all the altar guild members for all their extra work during Holy Week. Thank you to John and the choir for lovely music to lift us up. Thank you to Debbie for printing all of the bulletins for the extra services during holy week. Thank you to all who attended services during Holy Week, sat quietly in church during the vigil, and attended on Easter. Thank you to the teachers and children for their song to the congregation – and helping to flower the cross. I had never seen that done before and it was quite lovely. It was good to see so many people attending. We should rejoice that so many felt the need to start their Easter Day at Church…and especially at Trinity.
This coming Sunday, March 30th, the children will present the food that has been collected during Lent – to be blessed. They will then carry it to the Food Pantry. Thank you to all who have generously donated during this time. Please continue the donations as times are getting hard for many folks during bring this down turn in our economy. If possible a few extra things each week…food and other necessities.
Also, on this coming Sunday, George Whiting will be commissioned as a Lay Eucharistic Visitor. He has taken the diocesan training and will be helping to bring communion to the shut-ins. The plan is that we will now see them more often, with two of us alternating. That will help them, hopefully, to feel more part of the congregation.
I would like to schedule a meeting on Sunday, May 4th for anyone interested in our Christian Education program. If you would like to be part of the conversation about where to go next with our Christian Education – for children, youth and adults – please plan to attend. Please also speak with me about it, if you have any questions or concerns or special interests.
April 15th – 17th I will be attending the Clergy Conference in Brewster. This is an annual event strongly encouraged by our Bishops. It is a time for learning, fun and relaxation, connecting with colleagues and hopefully being renewed.
There are a number of Deanery
events coming up – please note the schedule below.
One more
change!

From our Dean, The Rev. George Welles
: “Easter invites us to believe in something even greater than all the wonders of spring.”
Greetings to everyone. Due to some technical difficulties my report for last month did not make the newsletter, so I will attempt to bring you all up to speed. Much has happened in the two months since I was voted in as Senior Warden. I first must thank Ann Merriman, Marion Dunn, Sue Johnson and Karen Boyle for their service to the church over the past three years. They did a fabulous job and made the transition for me and the other new vestry members very easy. John Lutts, our new Junior Warden, along with our new vestry members, Kat Wiley, Steve Johnson and Joyce Joseph are excited to serve during this important time of transition for the parish.
The Vestry's themes this year are organization, preparation and communication. We have begun the all-important self-study as we prepare to welcome a new rector. Our Search Committee has already been established and has met with our consultant from the Diocese, Martha Popolosky.
We have conducted the Appreciative Inquiry, led by the Rev. Cynthia Hubbard. It was a remarkable program that allowed us all the opportunity to reflect on what is good about Trinity, and start to define our vision of the future. The Search Committee will be providing you with regular updates of the process. Any questions you may have can be directed to a Search Committee member. We will have a combined Vestry and Search Committee retreat in April to complete the profile process.
John Lutts and Mike Lotti, the "official" chairperson of the Building Committee, have met to address the issues affecting our physical plant, including much-needed roof repair. Questions about the building and grounds can be directed to them.
The amended bylaws voted and approved at the Annual Meeting by the parish have now been approved by the Diocese. It is official. We will return to our previous method of electing officers and vestry members.
This is a very exciting time for Trinity and I am looking forward to serving the parish. We are all in this together and I am blessed to have such a supportive vestry and congregation. Watch for important information in future newsletters and on our developing website, www.trinityrockland.org.
Baby-sitting is available at the 10:00 a.m. service for infants and Toddlers.
Please call or see Karen Boyle if you are interested in volunteering.
The children enjoyed performing during the Easter service and the Procession of Flowers. It's always a beautiful celebration of Easter. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Rockland Food Pantry. We brought the Donations to the food pantry on Sunday, March 30th.
The Women's Group will meet Monday, April 7th at 7:00 p.m. We will put together May Baskets for our shut-ins. Donations of small packaged goodies or toiletries are always appreciated. All women are invited to attend.
Looking for a place to sing? Looking for a way to have fun and participate in the worship service? Then the Choir is the place for you. All are welcome and no previous singing experience is required. Come join us and learn to sing!
Pick up your camera and join the fun. Where do you see God? We would like to invite everyone to join us in a photo contest. Bring you photo’s framed in an 8x10 frame to church. We will vote on Sunday, May 25th.

Several months ago I was appointed to the Diocesan Altar Guild. At that time I was not sure of what the Diocesan Altar Guild does so I thought that maybe I was not the only one uninformed. So, for the next couple of newsletters I will try to explain just what we as members are expected to do.
The Diocesan Altar Guild prepares the Altar for Celebration of Holy Eucharist at Diocesan Convention. It is always a challenge to transform a convention hall into a place of worship. This is similar to any regular parish service only on a much smaller scale. The Liturgy and Music Commissions do much of the planning of the service. The articles to be used are provided by the Diocesan Altar Guild and are set up before the service. After the service they are packed up and taken back to the Cathedral to be washed, ironed and stored.
